INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES

The Austin ISD Comprehensive Literacy Handbook provides the reader with insight into the philosophy of literacy instruction in AISD. It offers a range of support to educators, such as defining the components of a rigorous literacy program, providing suggestions for homework, offering implementation strategies, and sharing ways to convey clear expectations to students. The handbook embodies the pedagogical views of AISD Language Arts.

To help teachers in AISD develop rich, effective, and engaging lessons, we are providing resources describing best-practices for teaching literacy concepts and skills.  These resources are arranged by topic, and new resources are being developed all the time.  Please contact us and give us feedback about these resources, and please also feel free to recommend new resources you would find valuable. In addition, we have just launched a new Language Arts Google Group through which we hope to foster intra-district collaboration and communication. Please join!
